Satirical fiction
At the museum, AI explains the wall between the paintings
The audio guide found meaning everywhere. The attendant is still looking for the exit.

In this fiction, the museum installed a conversational guide. At the first painting it discussed light; at the second, memory. The white wall between them inspired thoughts on absence. The visitor had only asked where to put a coat.
An empty chair became a participatory work about tired eyes. The attendant explained that it was his chair. The label changed: “Tired Eyes, private collection, on exceptional loan from staff.”
A missing label in the next room inspired fresh enthusiasm: a piece leaving everything to interpretation. Maintenance put the label back. The AI praised this live performance on the restoration of meaning.
At the exit, a child pointed to a painting they liked without knowing why. The guide began offering seven reasons. The attendant asked it to wait. For once there was room for an impression that did not need a commentary.
