Sourced explainer
This image has a great story. Is it the right one?
The robot is wearing a hat. That still is not identification.

Provenance describes the origin and changes of content; it does not guarantee that the depicted scene is true. That distinction matters before sharing a spectacular image.
In our fiction, a robot adds “eyewitness” to its badge after looking at a thumbnail. It then enlarges the badge to make it look more official. The evidence has doubled in size; its content has not changed.
For a real image, examine its original publication, caption and sharing context. Distinguish photography, illustration, montage and generated imagery when that information is available. Here, fictional images remain illustrations: a cat in a director’s suit does not document an appointment.
